Cal Hosts Oregon State, Oregon in Regular-Season Finale

California (9-16, 3-13, 8th) closes out the regular season at home against Oregon State (6-20, 1-15, 10th) Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. before facing Oregon (18-7, 11-5, 2nd) Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. on Senior Day. The Bears, who are 8-5 at home, look to solidify the No. 8 seed in next week's Pac-10 Tournament with a strong showing this week.
Cal is coming off a tough road trip, losing to UCLA, 73-61, after leading for most of the game and falling to USC, 103-69.
Five Cal seniors will play their final games at Haas Pavilion this week. After the Oregon game, the Bears will honor Khadijah Coakley (C), Leigh Gregory (F), Kristin Iwanaga (G), Jacqueline Sanchez (F/G) and Kiki Williams (F).
Gregory, who ranks 11th in Cal history in scoring with 1109 points, paces the Bears in scoring this season with a career-best 11.9 ppg (9th Pac-10). Freshman center Jessica Lawson is second at 10.4 ppg (14th Pac-10), and Iwanaga is third at 10.3 ppg (17th Pac-10).
Iwanaga, the Pac-10's career free throw leader (88.9, 224-252), continues to lead the nation in free throw percentage this year at 93.7 percent.
As a team, Cal leads the Pac-10 in three-point percentage (38.2) and is second in free throw percentage (73.2). The Bears are fourth in field goal percentage (43.1). These numbers have helped Cal to its best scoring average (66.8) in the last nine years, but the Bears' defense is surrendering 72.7 ppg, also its worst since the 1995-96 season (81.3 ppg).
The Bears have made 113 three-pointers this year, one fewer than their total from last season. Iwanaga (37) and Williams (33) have combined for 70 of the makes, both with career-best numbers.
Sophomore guard Sarah Pool ranks fourth in the Pac-10 in assists at 4.0 per game and has 100 assists overall, becoming the first Cal player to reach that milestone since Sherrise Smith dished 121 assists in 1998-99.
