No. 5 Stanford Leads Pac-10 Championships After First Day

Federal Way, Wash. - No. 5 Stanford leads at the conclusion of the first day of competition at the 2005 Pac-10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The defending champion Cardinal scored 120 points the two events contested on Wednesday and holds a 10-point lead on second-place Arizona.

Stanford won the 200 medley relay in a season-best NCAA 'A' qualifying time of 1:39.69 with a team of Amy Wagner, Caroline Bruce, Dana Kirk and Brooke Bishop. The Cardinal also had a season-best and NCAA 'A' qualifying mark of 7:10.50 to finish second in the 800 free relay with a team of Elizabeth Durot, Desiree Stahley, Bruce and Boutwell.

The four-day short-course yards meet continues Thursday-Saturday.
