Women's Swimming Opens Pac-10 Championship Competition

FEDERAL WAY, Wash.- The University of Washington women's swim team kicked off the Pac-10 tournament today with an NCAA A-cut qualifying time of 1:42.90 in the 200-yard medley relay. Members of this team consisted of Desiree Johnson, Caitlyn Shortt, Maggie Bever and Brittany Epperson, who placed seventh in the event.

In the only other women's event of the evening; Sharon Olson, Rebecca Rogers, Blythe Murray and Liya Lui placed ninth in the 800-yard medley relay with a time of 7:30.96.

Stanford leads the meet with 120 points, with California in a close second with 114 points.

The meet took place at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. Championship competition continues Thursday with four events, including the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay.
