Erica McLain, Ian Dobson Win Individual Competition at MPSF Championships

Seattle, Wa - Janice Davis, Wopamo Osaisai and Nick Sebes set school records, freshman Erica McLain won the long jump, the women's distance medley relay ran to victory and Ian Dobson captured the 5,000 meters to highlight Stanford's activities during first day (Friday) activities at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Dempsey Indoor Complex at the University of Washington.
Davis ran the best time of the day and also broke her school record in the 60 meters prelims with a time of 7.31. Earlier this year, Davis ran 7.32. Davis, a sophomore, also ran the fastest 200 meters in the prelims with a time of 23.86. Osaisai, a freshman, broke the indoor school record in the 60 meters with a time of 6.83. Osaisai broke the previous school record time of 6.88 by Milton Little in 2003. Sebes broke his school record in the 400 meters with a time of 46.88. His previous school record was 46.97 set earlier this year.
McLain won the long jump with an effort of 20-7 (6.27m), the second-best mark in school history. The women's distance medley relay team of Amanda Trotter, Nashonme Johnson, Lindsay Allen and Anita Siraki ran to victory in a time of 11:24.54.
McLain's victory and the win by the distance medley relay team helped the Stanford women to a first place standing after day one with 37 1/2 points. Washington is second with 34 points with Washington State in third place with 33. Eleven teams from the Pac-10 and Big West schools are competing in the league (MPSF) championships.
In men's competition, Stanford is second with 24 points. California leads with 39 points. Ten teams are competing.
Stanford's men's team picked up ten points when Ian Dobson crossed the finish line in first place in the 5,000 meters with an NCAA qualifying time of 13:45.54.
