No. 5 Stanford Qualifies 16 For Saturday's Finals Session At Pac-10's

Federal Way, Wash. - No. 5 Stanford qualified 16 plus diving swimmers for the evening finals session during prelim action Saturday on the fourth and final day of the 2005 Pac-10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships being held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The defending champion Cardinal has scored 1060 points through 14 of 21 events contested over the first three days of the short-course yards meet and will begin Saturday's finals session with a sizeable 235-point lead over second-place Arizona.

Stanford had six swimmers championship finals on Saturday evening.

Lacey Boutwell (100 free, 49.35) and Caroline Bruce (200 breast, 2:11.46) finished first in prelim action with NCAA 'A' times.

Dana Kirk (200 fly, 1:56.35) and Kristen Caverly (200 breast, 2:13.93) also recorded NCAA 'A' times during prelim action with second and third-place showings, respectively.

Laura Davis (200 fly, 1:58.90) and Brooke Bishop (200 back, 1:59.70) have also qualified for Saturday's finals session by finishing fourth and sixth.

The meet will conclude with Saturday's finals session scheduled to begin at 6 pm, PT. The 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving and 400 free relay will be contested. There were no prelims held for the 1650 free, platform diving or 400 free relay.
