Lincecum Two-Hits Aggies In 1-0 UW Win

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Sophomore Tim Lincecum threw a two-hit shutout in a seven-inning game asthe No. 19 Washington baseball team eked out a 1-0 win over 11th-ranked Texas A&M Sunday night at theDominos Pizza Aggie Classic at Olsen Field.
Lincecum (1-2), who suffered losses in his first two starts this season, gave up a double and a single (both in thefifth inning) while walking only one and striking out eight. A&M starter Robert Ray nearly equalled him, buttook the loss to fall to 1-2. Ray fanned eight Huskies and allowed only three hits and one walk in a complete game.
Washington, which lost to A&M on Friday and to Evansville earlier Sunday, improved to 3-6 on the seasonwhile the Aggies fell to 7-4.
The Huskies scored the game's lone run in the fourth inning. Senior right fielder Taylor Johnson walked to leadoff and moved to second on a single from Brent Lillibridge. After an out, designated hitter Curt Rindal singledto left field to drive in Johnson and give Washington a 1-0 lead.
The Aggies, who were shut out on a one-hitter by San Diego's Nate Boman earlier in the day, didn't managetheir first hit off of Lincecum until Austin Boggs led off the fifth with a double. Boggs, however, was thrownout at third trying to advance on a grounder to short. A&M managed to get runners at first and third later in thefifth, but a flyout from Keith Stein ended the Aggies' first threat of the night.
The Huskies close out their trip to Texas Monday with a pair of games against San Diego. The Toreros enter thefinal day of the tournament having not allowed a single run in three games -- two wins over Evansville and oneover Texas A&M. The UW-USD doubleheader gets underway at 10:00 a.m. CST (8:00 a.m. PST).
