Blue Team Rallies to Finish First at Cougar Invitational

The UCLA Blue Team finished first at the 6th Annual Cougar Invitational Tuesday, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at San Luis Rey Downs Golf Course in Bonsall, CA.

The Bruins fired a round of 284 (E) and finished with a 54 hole total of 864 (+12), tied for first with Cal State San Marcos, which posted a score of 299 in the final round. CS San Marcos led the field by 15 shots at the start of the final round.

'The guys played great today coming from 15 shots down. They were very motivated,' said Head Coach O.D. Vincent. 'They got some birdies and key up and downs in the last few holes.'

In particular, freshman Craig Leslie birdied two of his final three holes and carded a 68 (-3) to finish at even par 213. Sophomore Chris Heintz posted a 70 (-1) and finished at 214 (+1). Freshman Brandon Christianson posted a 72 and finished at 217 (+4), followed by Matt Marshall, who carded a 74 and finished at 220 (+7).

The Blue Team will participate in the UC Riverside Braveheart Invitational, Mar. 7-8, at the SCPGA Golf Course in Beaumont, CA.
