Cardinal Men Finish Seventh At Ashworth Invitational

The Stanford men's golf team carded a final round score of 296 on Tuesday afternoon at the Ashworth Invitational to finish seventh overall with a three-round total of 880. Tennessee claimed top honors with an even-par 852 for the tourney. Brigham Young was second (854) just two strokes off the pace, followed by Southern California (861). Rounding out the top five are Georgia Southern (865) and California (870).
Freshman Rob Grube shot a 69 in the final round to move up into a tie for 21st with a 218 (77-72-69). Teammate Matt Savage slipped into a tie for 28th with a 220 (73-71-76) while Kyle Gentry tied for 43rd (80-68-76--224). Senior Kevin Blue tied for 52nd with a 228 (75-78-75) along with Pat Phillips (74-74-80).
Georia Southern's Aron Price topped the individual leaderboard, firing a 10-under par 203. Ross McGowan from Tennessee finished five strokes back with a 208. Rounding out the top five individuals were Washington's James Lepp (210), BYU's Ron Harvey (211) and Pepperdine's Michael Putnam (211).
