Fans Buy More Than 5,000 Season Tickets Tuesday

BERKELEY - Displaying the enthusiasm that continues to surround the Golden Bear football program, Cal fans purchased more than 5,000 season tickets on Tuesday - the first day tickets went on sale for the 2005 fall campaign.
Over the first 24 hours tickets were available - from 12:01 a.m. until midnight Tuesday - the Cal Athletic Ticket Office sold 5,054 season tickets, more than 2 1/2 times the number of tickets Cal sold on the first day tickets went on sale last year when approximately 2,000 were purchased.
For 2005, fans can buy season tickets either on-line at CalBears.com or by calling the Cal Athletic Ticket Office at (800) GO BEARS. New season ticket purchasers can make general seating location requests with their orders, and exact seating locations will be finalized by June 1.
The Cal football schedule features a six-game home slate with the Nov. 12 game against national champion USC highlighting the Memorial Stadium calendar. The Big Game at Stanford Nov. 19 is also included in all reserved season ticket packages.
