For the sixth time in seven years, the Bruins will travel to Fresno, Calif., for the Bingham Toyota Bulldog Classic tournament. Of the team's six scheduled opponents this weekend, the Bruins have previously faced three of them in this particular tournament. The Bruins look to rebound from a disappointing weekend at the Palm Springs Classic that included a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma State and a 3-0 extra-innings loss to No. 3 Texas.

UCLA Goes 3-2 at Palm Springs Classic
UCLA had a disappointing weekend at the 2005 Palm Springs Classic held at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City, Calif., posting a 3-2 record for the weekend.

On the first day of the tournament, UCLA had a 5-0 win over Bethune-Cookman and a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame. Against the Wildcats, Caitlin Benyi connected on her second home run of the season and UCLA's eight hits were spread throughout the lineup with eight of the team's nine starting players recording a hit. In the nightcap against Notre Dame, Anjelica Selden issued her first walk in over 38 innings in the circle and allowed an earned run in the top of the first inning, but the Bruins came back with two runs in the bottom of the first and a third run in the fifth inning for a 3-1 victory. Benyi, Andrea Duran and Emily Zaplatosch each had two hits in the game.

Saturday's action saw UCLA's first loss of the weekend with UCLA falling to Oklahoma State, 2-1. The team bounced back with a 2-0 win over Wisconsin later that evening as Selden K'd 14 with just one walk in the game. Lisa Dodd had an RBI single in the game, and Jodie Legaspi went 2-for-3 in the contest.

The Wrigley Field replica at Big League Dreams was surrounded by fans on Sunday morning as UCLA took on Texas with Selden going toe-to-toe with UT Olympian Cat Osterman in the circle. UCLA's freshman matched the veteran's numbers, as Selden had 13 K's 1 BB while Osterman hit two batters to go along with her 18 K's and 4 walks. Texas won the game 3-0 in eight innings with all three unearned runs coming in the top of the eighth inning. The Bruins left 10 runners on base in the game.
