14 Bears qualify for Day 3 finals at Pac-10s

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Top-ranked California qualified 14 Golden Bears for tonight's finals during Day 3 preliminaries at the 2005 Pac-10 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships held this morning at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Cal senior Duje Draganja had the top time (46.56) in the 100-yard butterfly and led five Bears in swimming automatic NCAA qualifying times.
Through seven completed events, Cal stands in sole possession of second place, with 289 points. Stanford leads with 318.5 points. Standings are listed below.
The Bears had three swimmers qualify this morning for the 6 p.m. finals in four events - the 400 individual medley, 100 fly, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke - and two swimmers qualify in the 100 backstroke. Cal's 14 qualifiers, along with their times and the type of NCAA qualifying mark they may have swum, are listed below in bold.
