Former Bruins Place High at USA Track & Field Indoor Championships

Boston, MA - Last weekend (Feb. 26-27) at the USATF Indoor Nationals, three former Bruin women shined as Sheena Johnson, Tracy O'Hara and Cari Soong placed in the top-five in their respective events. Johnson was the highest finisher for the Bruin alumni with a second-place time of 8.14 in the 60m hurdles. O'Hara finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 13-9.25 and Soong placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 68-1.
Johnson, who placed fourth in the 400m hurdles at the Athens Olympics, was a 13-time All-American for the Bruins. In her last season at UCLA, Johnson was named the National, Regional and Pac-10 Athlete of the Year. At NCAA Outdoor, Johnson defended her 400m crown in a world-best and in-season collegiate record time of 53.54, placed third in the 100m hurdles (12.75, 1.7w), ran the second leg on UCLA's 4x100m relay (2nd, 43.49) and 4x400m relay (4th, 3:28.85) and was the meet's top point producer with 19.25 points. Johnson also won the 100 (12.85) and 400 (54.91) hurdles at West Region and Pac-10.
Soong was a 10-time All-American while at UCLA, most recently placing fifth at NCAA Outdoor (211-03) in the hammer and eighth at NCAA Indoor in the weight throw (69-0). Soong holds the school record in the weight throw (69-0) and was the former Pac-10 record and school record holder in the hammer throw (216-3).
O'Hara is the former school record holder in the pole vault (14-7.25) and was a four-time NCAA Outdoor All-American. In 2000, O'Hara won the NCAA Indoor title in the pole vault with a jump of 14-6.
