Friday's Stanford-California Series Opener Postponed By Weather

March 4, 2005

Stanford, Calif. - The opener of a three-game non-conference series at Sunken Diamond between No. 11 Stanford (9-6) and California (10-4) scheduled for Friday, March 4, has been postponed due to weather conditions. The series is now scheduled to begin with a single game on Saturday, March 5. A doubleheader is slated for Sunday, March 6. First pitch both days is set for 1:00 pm, PT.

Stanford has won 16 consecutive games against California dating back to the last Golden Bear win over the Cardinal in Berkeley on March 9, 2002. California will enter the series on a nine-game win streak.

The postponement was the third of the 2005 campaign for the Cardinal. Stanford's 2005 scheduled season opener versus Fresno State on January 28 and its series-opener against Kansas on February 11 were both postponed due to weather conditions.

Stanford has swept six consecutive doubleheaders over the past four seasons since the Cardinal split a twin bill with UCLA on April 7, 2001.
