Sun Devils Defeat Ducks 54-47, Advance To Championship Game

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Aubree Johnson scored six of her 14 points and made a key steal in the final 46 seconds as Arizona State defeated Oregon 54-47 on Sunday to advance to the Pac-10 tournament championship game.
Emily Westerberg scored 12 points, five in the final 2:15, as the third-seeded Sun Devils (22-8) advanced to their first championship game since winning the tournament in 2002. They will play the winner of a later game between No. 1 Stanford and No. 4 Southern California.
Catherine Kraayeveld scored 14 points for No. 2 Oregon (20-9), which lost for the second time in six games. Andrea Bills added 11 points.
The game was tied heading into the final minute of play. Johnson hit a baseline jumper with 46 seconds left to give Arizona State its first lead of the second half at 49-47.
Oregon threw the ball away with 24 seconds left. Johnson then made a pair of free throws and stole the inbound pass to seal the victory.
The Sun Devils added nine assists to their school record of 509.
Arizona State missed 14 of its first 15 shots in the second half but still managed to tie the game at 37 when Westerberg put back her own missed shot with 8:54 remaining to play.
The Sun Devils took advantage of their foul shooting to stay in the game, making their first 12 free throws of the second half while Oregon was 4-of-5.
The Ducks used a 14-3 run near the end of the first half to turn a five-point deficit into a six-point lead before settling for a 29-25 halftime advantage.
