Arizona's Salim Stoudamire Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA guard Salim Stoudamire has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 28-March 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Stoudamire, a senior from Portland, Ore., led Arizona to a 70-68 victory over Arizona State, clinching outright the Wildcats' 11th Pac-10 title. He scored 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-7 from the three-point line and 7-of-8 from the free throw stripe, while collecting three rebounds and three steals. Stoudamire's only field goal in the second half was the game winner, which he downed with 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock.
The Wildcats (25-5, 15-3 Pac-10), are the top seed at the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles. They will face eighth-seeded California in first round action on Thursday at 12:20 p.m. PT.
This is the fifth weekly honor for Stoudamire, the third this season, and Arizona's 64th Player of the Week all-time. Stoudamire is the 11th player in Pac-10 History to earn five or more Player of the Week honors in his career.
