No. 30 California Concludes Play at the Pacific Coast Doubles

La Jolla, CA - The No. 30 California men's tennis team wrapped-up play at Pacific Coast Doubles Championships. The No. 3 seeded team of Conor Niland and Patrick Briaud advanced to the semifinals, while Ken Nakahara and John Pettit captured the consolation title.
Briaud and Niland notched wins against James/Russell (6-1; 6-1) in the Round of 64, defeated Dakki/Makowski, 8-6, in the Round of 32 and beat Smith/Spencer in the quarterfinals, 8-6, before falling in the semis.
After losing in the round of 64, Nakahara and Pettit picked up wins in the consolation second round (6-1; 6-2) and third round (def.). After defeating Orden/Wolf (8-4) in the quarterfinals and Molden Swatt (1-6; 6-2; 6-2) in the semifinals, the duo claimed the consolation crown with a three-set thriller over Browne/Hernandez, 7-6(5); 4-6; 7-6(5).
Cal's Lennart Maack and Dean Wallace advanced to the Round of 32 before falling to the ninth-seeded team of Lagenkamp/Parbhu, 9-8. Vaclav Burger and Ken Nakajima advanced to the consolation quarterfinals, coming up short against No. 9 seed Gruendler/Lamb, 8-5.
The Bears will host TCU, Friday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m at the Hellman Tennis Center.
