Trojan 4 x 400 Team Puts Up Good Time At Long Beach Relays

Long Beach, Calif. - The USC men's 1600m relay squad ran a swift early-season time of 3:06.81 to highlight the Trojan track teams' participation at the Long Beach Relays on Saturday at Jake Rose Track.

The team of Phillip Francis, Lionel Larry, Marvin Anderson and Wes Felix handily beat the USC 'B' team, winning the race by almost four seconds.

The time was just outside the USC all-time top 10 chart and almost matched Troy's best 1600m mark of last season (3:06.21).

Other good marks for USC were put up by:

--Virginia Powell, who won the 100m HH in an outstanding 13.11;
--Candice Davis, who was second to Powell in a PR 13.49;
--freshman Sheldon Evans, who won the 400m IH and upped his PR to 52.03;
--Inman Breaux, who went a PR 49-9 to win the triple jump;
--Blake Frzier, who ran 14.31 to tie his PR and win the 110m HH

The Trojans are next in action at the Bennie Brown Invitational on Saturday in Fullerton, Calif.
