Cougars Host Southern California Schools

THIS WEEK: The No. 75 Washington State women's tennis team will host two Pac-10 matches...the Cougars will square off against No. 13 USC Friday, March 11 at noon and No. 10 UCLA Saturday, March 12 also beginning at noon.

WSU HEAD COACH Lisa Hart ON THIS WEEKEND: 'Hosting two Pac-10 schools will be great for our team to see how we measure up. Having some time off gave us a chance to really work hard on some things. The weather has really helped us this season by allowing us to practice outside on the same surface that we play on in our matches.'

COUGARS CLIMB ALL-TIME LIST: Senior Nora Gaal is now in sixth place on the all-time career singles victories list with 67...fellow senior Chris Martinez also continues to elevate herself up the list...she has 65 career singles victories which is good enough for eighth on the all-time list.

TOUGH COMPETITION: The Cougars have faced seven ranked opponents out of the 11 teams they have faced in dual match play.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars aced their doubleheader against Montana and Lewis-Clark State...both matches were captured by a score of 6-1...Amy Toth leads all Cougars in singles victories with 14 on the season after posting two singles wins in both matches...Chris Martinez and Nora Gaal have 12 singles triumphs a piece...newcomer Ekaterina Burduli has posted solid numbers since joining the team in January...she has eight wins out of 11 tries in dual match play.

UP NEXT: Washington State will play four matches in five days...the Cougars will head to California to take on Cal State Northridge March 16 in Northridge, San Diego March 17 at 2 p.m.... and face Marshall at 9 a.m. March 18 in San Diego...Washington State will head home and clash with Washington March 20 at noon.
