Gagnet Third on 3-Meter Board at NCAA Regional

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - California senior Louie Gagnet qualified for the 2005 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships by taking third place on the three-meter springboard on the first day of the 2005 NCAA Division I Zone E Diving Regional held at Oklahoma Community College today. Gagnet had a score of 625.35 to finish behind winner Joona Puhakka from Arizona State (664.55) and runner-up John Collier from Arizona (654.00).

The top three finishers on the one- and three-meter boards and the top two finishers on the platform automatically qualify for the NCAA Swimming and Diving championships, to take place March 24-26 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Gagnet competes on the one-meter springboard tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. CT. The platform diving competition will take place at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, also in Oklahoma City.
