No. 1 Stanford To Be Featured On ESPN Sunday

Stanford, Calif. - The top-ranked women's basketball team in the country will be featured on the NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Special airing live on ESPN this Sunday, 2-3 p.m. (PT). Stanford, who received the automatic bid from the Pacific-10 Conference after winning the tournament last Monday with a 56-42 victory over Arizona State, will be featured on ESPN as the team and the nation finds out where the Cardinal will be seeded in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Head coach Tara VanDerveer and the Cardinal squad will be part of a live remote during the show.

Stanford will be making its 18th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament this year. With a 29-2 record, the Cardinal won the regular season Pac-10 title as well as the conference tournament. It is the 14th Pac-10 title and the third-straight conference tournament championship for Stanford.

The Cardinal own a 40-16 record in the NCAA Tournament in its 18 previous appearances, with two NCAA Championships, six Final Four appearances, nine Elite Eight appearances and 12 Sweet Sixteens.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN FULL COURT will combine to present all 63 games from the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship. The tournament begins with first round coverage on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19 and concludes with the Final Four from Indianapolis on April 3 and 5.
