Ashlee Rosenthal Joins Cassidy Krug As NCAA Qualifier
March 12, 2005
Oklahoma City, Okla. - Stanford's Ashlee Rosenthal officially joined fellow Cardinal diver Cassidy Krug as a qualifier for the 2005 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships following the conclusion of action at the three-day NCAA Zone E Meet on Saturday at Oklahoma City Community College. Neither competed in the platform event contested Saturday.
Katie Lampe (22nd, 176.65) and Sara Bowling (25th, 165.05) both participated in prelim action during Saturday's platform for the Cardinal but did not qualify for the finals. Arizona State's Trisha Tumlinson won the event with 448.45 points.
Krug became one of the first four divers to automatically qualify for the NCAA's from the Zone E Meet when she finished third in the 3-meter event on the opening day of competition Thursday. Rosenthal's strong fourth-place showing in the 1-meter on Friday did not automatically qualify her for the NCAA's but earned her one of nine selections from the Zone E Meet when the complete list of qualifiers were announced after Saturday's platform.
Krug and Rosenthal joined 13 Stanford women's swimmers and divers that previously qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships set to take place March 17-19 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The swimmers qualified for the NCAA's on their way to a conference title at the Pac-10 Championships February 23-26 in Federal Way, Washington.
