Bruno Barbic Advances To Men's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

SEATTLE-- Washington freshman Bruno Barbic has been invited to swim at the 2005 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., Mar. 24-26. He will swim in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle events for the Huskies
Barbic is seeded 20th in the 50 freestyle with a Washington school record time of 19.81. Barbic set the record at the Pac-10 Swimming and Diving Championships and is the first Husky swimmer to ever break the 20 second mark in the event. He is the second-fastest freshman in the nation this season.
Barbic is seeded 19th in the 100 freestyle with a UW school record time of 43.48. He set the record at the Pac-10 Championships last week and is the third-fastest freshman in the country.
Barbic is seeded 49th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:38.67 set in a relay split at the Pac-10 Championships. He ranks seventh on the UW all-time list in the event.
The NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will be hosted by the University of Minnesota and will take place at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center. For tickets, contact the University of Minnesota at 800/UGOPHERS.
