Oregon State Quotes

Head Coach Jay John:

On Arizona: 'I don't think that there is any argument or dispute that it was they best they have played against us in the three times we've played. They are in a real rhythm. They keep the ball moving and they keep cutting. It is obvious they are very good.'

On Postseason: 'I think that we helped our NIT chances with coming down here and getting a win over UCLA. I believe that UCLA is a NCAA tournament team. In the last part of the season we have played well.'

On the Arizona: 'This Arizona team moves the ball better than any of the teams when I was there. With the big men, Ivan Radenovic and Channing Frye, there is a lot more ball movement making it much harder to defend. This current team is better than the Final Four Arizona team.'

Note: Jay John was an assistant coach on Arizona's 2000-2001 NCAA Final Four team.

David Lucas

On Tonight's Loss: 'It was tough. We went into the locker room at half time and said, 'We are going to make a run right off the bat,' but we went out there and they made the run and put it in the hole.'

On Match Up: 'It was a tough match up. I wasn't into it. I take blame for that. I didn't come ready, and I allowed turnovers. So, it was tough.'

Arizona Quotes

Head Coach Lute Olson

On Tonight's Game and Team Performance: 'From an offensive standpoint in the second half, we are able to do a better job offensively with the ball and waiting for things to happen. We shot almost 69 percent in the second half, and 50 percent from three-point, we were almost letter perfect in the second half with our shooting.'

On Defensive Mindset of Team: 'I have said since the beginning of the year that this year's team has a chance to be the best defensively that I have ever had at Arizona. We have quickness at every spot, Channing (Frye) has been doing a great job of challenging every shot, Ivan (Radenovic) has made it hard to come inside to the bucket, and in Hassan's (Adams) case he can make it tough for someone to even get into the paint. The game plan was pretty obvious, we just didn't want them to catch the ball, we wanted them to have to go out on the court to catch the ball, so we extended passing lanes, and I thought that the guys did a great job of that.'

Salim Stoudamire

On Today's Game: ' We played extremely well today, especially on the defensive end. That is really the key, our defense triggers our offense..'

On Injury: ' I hurt my calf. But I will be okay. I'm a 'gamer' so I wont feel it tomorrow.'

Channing Frye

On Thought on the Game: 'I think the combination of our bench and our starters really kept us going. Our bench kept up the defensive intensity. Coach always says if you start your offense 30 feet away you're going to get tired. It's great that our bench can come in and add a defensive spark.'

On Depth of Team: 'Coach doesn't have to worry this year about our attitude. This year is the best attitude that people have ever had. We understand that this subbing is for the better of the team. Coach always says don't get a rest on the court, rest on the bench. I know if I'm tired, I can raise my hand and someone just as capable will come in and get buckets.'
