Arizona's Katie Johnson Named Pac-10 Gymnast Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Arizona senior Katie Johnson has been named Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for Mar. 7-13, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Johnson, from Moorhead, Minn., led Arizona to its highest team total of the season (196.375) and victories over Cal-State Fullerton (193.600), Texas Women's University (192.700) and Ball State (191.300).
Johnson, in her final home meet as a Wildcat, began the night by tying her career high with a 9.900 score on vault en route to winning the individual title. She also placed second on the balance beam, scoring a 9.850 as Arizona set a season high 49.025 in the event. Johnson also captured the floor title with a 9.925 mark. It was her second highest mark of the season, and it helped Arizona score a team total of 49.400 on the floor to set another season high.
The Wildcats will travel to College Park, Md., for their final regular season meet where they will face Maryland, Rhode Island and James Madison starting at 5 p.m. (MST) on Friday.
