Cal's Michael Wilson Captures San Francisco City Golf Championship
March 14, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - University of California men's golfer Michael Wilson, a junior who is redshirting this season, defeated Daniel Lim, 3 and 2 in match play, to win the San Francisco City Championship Sunday at Harding Park.
Wilson, Pac-10 Co-Freshman of the Year in 2003 and a key player on the Golden Bears' 2004 NCAA championship squad, has opted to sit out this season after a fine sophomore campaign. A player with an outstanding short game and one of the best putters in Cal history, his 71 on the final round of the 2004 NCAA championship was a key component in the Bears' national title run.
Wilson led Lim, a senior at Bellarmine Prep who will be attending Stanford next fall, for the entire 36-hole event.
