Coach John Has a Message for Beaver Nation
March 14, 2005
When my assistant coaches and I arrived three years ago, one of our primary goals was to end the years of losing streaks and negative results at Oregon State University. I'm happy to say that the 2004-05 season has done just that, and we look forward to continuing to build on the tremendous success of this season.
We owe a lot to our fans that make up the Beaver Nation. Attendance is the best that it's been in years, and you can certainly attribute our 12-1 home record (where we lost only to Arizona and beat #1-seed Washington) to the enormous support that we have enjoyed in Gill Coliseum.
Now, I'm asking for your help one more time. Our game on Wednesday night against Cal State Fullerton is the first postseason game at Gill in 18 years. We would love to see the same type of attendance that helped us to wins against the likes of Washington, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon. There's no question that when the arena is filled with people wearing orange who are making lots of noise, it's given us a boost.
Our goal is to win as many games as we can in the NIT. You can help us do that by showing up on Wednesday night, just like you've done for so many other home games this season, and supporting the Beavers just as you've always done.
The NIT is very much an attendance-driven tournament. Therefore, if we can defeat Cal State Fullerton, and if we have a big crowd, there's a good chance that we'll host another game. We'll do our best to take care of our side of things. Please join us on Wednesday night. If we all do our part, it will help to continue all of the great things happening with men's basketball at Oregon State University.
