Arizona State's Canizares Named Pac-10 Men's Golfer Of The Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Alejandro Canizares of Arizona State has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for February.

Canizares, a junior from Manilva, Spain, won two out of three tournaments the Sun Devils participated in during February. He opened the month with a victory in the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate at Tucson and closed it with a win at the Puerto Rico Classic. It upped his career total to six tournament wins. Canizares posted a stroke average of 68.44 in three events during the month, with six of nine rounds in the 60s and no round higher than 71. He currently has a stroke average of 70.85 for the year.

Others nominated for player of the month honors were James Lepp of Washington, Henry Liaw of Arizona, Derek Sipe of Oregon and David Fern of Washington State.
