The Women Of Troy Golf Squad Remains In First Place At UNLV Spring Invitational

The USC women's golf team remains in first place following the second round of play at the UNLV Spring Invitational at the Black Mountain Golf & Country Club in Henderson, Nev. The team's performance so far in the tournament represents the best start for the Trojans this season.
Despite gusting winds at over 30 miles an hour, the Women of Troy finished the first round leading the seventeen other teams with a team score of 306 (+18). The Trojans continued to excel in the second round of play, improving the team score by seven strokes with a 29-over-par score of 299. USC leads the second place University of Arizona by five strokes.
Sophomore Catalina Marin fell to second-place after shooting a one-over 73 in the second round. Marin shot a one-over 73 for the first 18 holes as well. Marin sits two strokes back from the University of Arizona's Cassandra Kirkland, who shot a three-under 69 to put her atop the charts going into tomorrow's third and final round.
Four other Trojans are among the top 25 golfers. Sophomore Veronica Felibert shot a 76 today to finish tied for ninth place. All-American candidate Irene Cho finished the first two rounds tied for 12th after shooting a six-over 78 Tuesday.
