March 16, 2005
The No. 8 USC men's golf team travels down south this weekend to compete in the 2005 Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia.
No. 3 University of Georgia and No. 7 University of Florida are the only schools participating in this tournament that sit above USC in the rankings. However, the playing field is competitive as 13 of the 15 teams competing in the tournament are ranked in the top 50.
'This is one of the strongest fields of the year and we are excited to have such a quality field back in Statesboro for the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational,' said Georgia Southern head coach Larry Mays.
Florida enters the weekend as the defending tournament champions. The Trojans tied for eighth place last year and are looking to finish much stronger this time around.
There is a practice round on Friday and the tournament will commence Saturday morning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. The teams will play 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday.
