UCLA Hosts Crosstown Rivals USC

THIS WEEK -- The UCLA Women's Rowing will host crosstown rivals USC on Sunday March 20th at Marina Del Rey. The first race is scheduled for 8 a.m. This dual race will end with five points going towards the winning team's point count in the Lexus-Gauntlet challenge.
The Lexus Gauntlet challenge began in the 2001 as a season long competition between all the sports of USC and UCLA. At each head-to-head match-up, the winning team is awarded points towards the Lexus Gauntlet . UCLA is currently ahead with 45 points, and the Trojans trail with 30 points. Points are yet to be awarded for rowing, men's and women's golf, men's and women's track and field, and baseball.
The Bruins have already started off the year strong, recording a tri meet victory over UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount on March 12. The Bruins swept the two schools, winning the varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, varsity 4+, novice 8+ and the open 8+.
The Bruins will be entering six boats in the competition: varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, varsity 4+, second varsity 4+, novice 8+ and the second novice 8+. The projected line-ups are as follows:

8:00 a.m. - Varsity 4+
8:15 a.m. - Second Varsity 4+
8:35 a.m. - Second Varsity 8+
8:55 a.m. - Varsity 8+
9:15 a.m. - Novice 8+
Up Next-- The Bruins will be competing in the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego from April 2 though April 3. Last year, the Bruins came in third in the race for the Cal Cup, and hope to capture it this year.
