Bears Wins All Three Races Against British Columbia

Berkeley, CA - Women's crew began their 2004 racing season with wins over British Columbia in the varsity eight, third varsity eight and novice eight. Each of the Cal boats won its races by at least 18 seconds, with the novice boat dominating, winning by 31 seconds.

'As a first race I am impressed with the team and look forward to getting better,' said junior rower Kaylan Vander Schilden. 'This was a great way to start our season here at our home course. I look forward to racing more at Redwood Shores.'

Cal also held two intersquad races between the varsity eight A and varsity eight B, and between the third varsity eight and the novice eight. The varsity eight B was victorious in its race, winning by twelve seconds, and the third varsity eight rowed out a win against the novice eight, winning by thirteen seconds.
