Cal In Third After Two Rounds of Duck Invitational

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - No. 30 California is in third place with a score of 606 on Monday after two rounds of the Oregon Duck Invitational at Shadow Hills Country Club. The Golden Bears were tied for fifth after shooting a 310 but climbed two spots with an afternoon round of eight-over 296.

No. 22 Washington State and No. 35 Oregon are tied for first at 600 in the 17-team tournament. Rounding out the top five are fourth-place Fresno State (607) and fifth-place Stanford (609). Washington, the highest ranked team in the tournament at No. 4, is ninth with a score of 625.

Washington State's Kim Welch leads the individual competition with a 143. She is one shot ahead of Oregon's Kimberly McCready and Fresno State's Laura Luethke.

Junior Sofie Andersson, who is coming off a victory at the Spartan Invite, leads all Cal golfers in fifth at 146 after capping the day with an even-par 72. Junior Sophia Sheridan is not far behind tied for eighth place at 150. Sheridan equaled the second-lowest round of the day with a 70 in round two.

Freshman Enu Chung, who is making her Cal debut, is tied for 22nd place with a 150, including a second-round score of 75. Chung joined the Bears in January as the No. 1 amateur player in New Zealand.

The third and final round begins Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.,
