Hartley Wraps Up Banner Season With NCAA, Pac-10 Honors
March 21, 2005
USC junior diver Blythe Hartley, a six-time All-American and two-time NCAA title winner in 2002 and 2003, was away from the University Park campus for a year while she trained for the 2004 Canadian Olympic Trials and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
She returned in the Fall of 2004 after winning a bronze medal in Athens and continued to dominate the collegiate diving scene.
She had a tremendous month of March, earning 2005 NCAA and Pac-10 Women's Diver of the year honors. She adds that to the 2002 NCAA Women's Diver of the Year award already on her mantel as well as the Pac-10 award in 2002 and 2003.
Hartley was a three-time finalist at the 2005 NCAA Championships, winning her third career title with a victory on the 3-meter springboard. She was also second on 1-meter (giving her eight career NCAA Top 3 finishes) and fifth on platform, which marked her ninth career All-American honor.
At the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, she won conference crowns on both springboard events for her fifth and sixth career Pac-10 wins.
