Cardinal Women In Fifth At Oregon Duck Invitational

Junction City, Ore. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a first round score of 315,then rebounded with a second round of 294 on the opening day of competition at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Junction City, Ore. at the Shadow Hills Country Club. The Cardinal two-round score of 609 puts them in fifth place overall.

Host-Oregon leads the field, along with Washington State after shooting a 600 on the day. California is six strokes back in third with a 606, followed by Fresno State (607) and Stanford (609).

Individually, WSU's Kim Welch shot rounds of 73 and 70 to hold the top spot with a 143. Oregon's Kimberly McCready and Fresno State's Laura Luethke are one stroke behind her with a 144 on the day. Kay Hoey, from Long Beach State is fourth (145) while California's Sofie Andersson is fifth (146).

For the Cardinal, Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana, fired rounds of 81 and 70 to put herself in a tie for 11th with a 151. Teammate Lauren Todd is tied for 14th with a 152 (78-74). Kelly Husted in one stroke back with a 153 (78-75) and tied for 18th. Senior Wendra Liang carded rounds of 78 and 76 to tie for 22nd. Stanford's Stephanie Lue is tied for 30th with a 156 (78-78).

Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m.
