No. 18 California Falls to No. 1 Baylor, 6-1

March 22, 2005

Waco, TX - The No. 28 California men's tennis team came up short against No. 1 Baylor, 6-1, this evening in Waco, TX. With the loss, the Golden Bears fall to 6-7 overall, while Baylor remains undefeated at 13-0.

Cal began the match well, capturing the doubles point by winning two of three matches. The No. 23 doubles duo of Patrick Briaud and Conor Niland upset No. 12 Benedikt Dorsch on court one, 8-4. Lennart Maack and Dean Wallace clinched the doubles point on court three, where they edged Benjamin Becker and Jon Reckewey, 8-6.

Cal couldn't maintain the momentum in singles play, however, dropping all six matches to a Baylor lineup that features three players ranked in the top 40.

The Bears remain on the road this weekend, where they next face Oregon on Friday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m.
