The UCLA women's and men's track and field teams will split this weekend for competition as the distance runners head to the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, CA, while the men's team, along with the women throwers, head to Tucson for the Jim Click Shootout.
The majority of the UCLA women's track and field team will not be in action this weekend as they prepare for the upcoming Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee meet (4-7--9), but nine distance runners and five throwers will head out to this weekend to compete.
Slated to compete at the Stanford Invitational are - freshman Alice Bohannon (800m, 4x400m), freshman Olga Aulet-Leon (1500m, 4x400m), sophomore Leslie Barrie (Steeple), freshman Alison Costello (5000m), freshman Monika Rothenburger (5000m), junior Sarah West (5000m), freshman Claire Rethmeier (5000m), senior Valerie Flores (10,000m), and sophomores Jenna Timinsky (4x400m) and Talita Wells (4x400m).
The women throwers will head to the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson with senior Lara Saye (SP, DT, HT), senior Jessica Cosby (SP, HT), junior Briona Reynolds (DT), sophomore Kamaiya Warren (SP, DT), and sophomore Brittany Ferguson (JT). Saye and Cosby are both coming off of an impressive showing at the CS Northridge Invitational (3/19) in which Saye threw a lifetime-best 185-7 in the discus and Cosby threw a season-best 53-9-25 in the shot.
Junior Jacqueline Nguyen (PV) will redshirt the outdoor season and will not be competing in Tucson.
