USC Women's Tennis Defeats No. 20 TCU, 4-3

LOS ANGELES - The fiftth-ranked USC women's defeated 20th-ranked TCU, 4-3, on Wednesday, March 23, at Marks Stadium. With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 11-1 overall, while the Horned Frogs fall to 12-2.

TCU started the match taking two of the three doubles positions to claim the doubles point. The Trojans' Anca Anastasiu and Dianne Matias prevented the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory over Helena Besovic and Andrea Morgado at court No. 2.

Singles started off in TCU's favor with Tweedie-Yates' 6-1, 6-2 victory over Nicole Leimbach at center court to put the Horned Frogs up 2-0. The Women of Troy though made sure their opponent didn't score again until the USC victory was secured.

Matias put the Trojans on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cetnik at court No. 4. Freshman Lindsey Nelson improved to 12-0 in singles play beating Besovic, 6-2, 6-2, at the second position. Anastasiu kept the ball rolling for the Women of Troy with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kewa Nichols at court No. 3. Carine Vermeulen clinched the match at court five with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Gloriann Lopez.

USC next heads to the desert this weekend to face No. 36 Arizona State on Friday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m. MT in Tempe, Ariz. and No. 47 Arizona on Saturday, March 26, at Noon MT in Tucson, Ariz
