Stanford Invitational Runs as Florida Relays Called Due to Rain

Cal's highest finish in competition Saturday came during the men's high jump where senior David Glasgow, jumped 2.10m (6-10.75) for a seasonal best and a tie for fourth place. Freshman Ed Wright, tied for sixth with jump of 2.05m (6-08.75).

Freshman Andy McClary matched Glasgow in the 800m with his fourth place finish in running 1:54.78. Competing unattached, former Cal Bear, Randy Fair, finished one place ahead in a time of 1:53.78.

On the women's side Sophomore Carrie Johnson finished sixth in the top section of the women's hammer throw with a toss of 51.09m (167-07), while teammate Lauren Dorsey finished sixth with personal best throw of 47.78m (156-09).

On the track, senior Lindsay Maclise beat her personal best with a time of 4:27.77 in the women's 1,500m where she ran mostly from the back of the pack spending plenty of energy moving in and out of the pack before finally making a move in the closing 400m, finishing seventh in a field of 15. Teammate Whitney Schmucker also competed in the 1,500m, running conservatively through the first 1,000m before running all the way from the back of the field to finish seventh in her section with a time of 4:38.71, beating her seasonal best from last year by 10 seconds. Redshirt freshman Amanda Thornberry finished eighth in her section of the 1,500m with a time of 4:39.00.

Senior Bridget Duffy beat her seasonal best from last year in the 5,000m with a time of 17:13.57 for a 26th place finish.

FLORIDA RELAYS CALLED DUE TO RAIN

The 2005 Florida Relays finally gave to foul weather as the final day's events were all called due to rain.
