Cougs Defeat University of British Columbia 5-1 in Exhibition

PULLMAN, Wash. - - The Washington State baseball defeated the University of British Columbia 5-1 in exhibition play at Bailey-Brayton Field Monday. The match is considered a regular season game for UBC but does not count toward the Cougars' record.
Highlights of the game for WSU (15-13, 0-3 Pac-10) include a solid pitching performance by Bradley Selinger (0-0) and a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by Kaeo Rubin. In his first appearance on the mound since undergoing surgery, Selinger threw 80 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits. Rubin led the Cougs at the plate with two singles, a double and one run scored.
UBC's (15-9-1) Jonathan Forest (4-2) recorded the loss, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks during six innings of work.
The Cougars return to regular season action Tuesday night at 6 p.m. when they host the Gonzaga Bulldogs at Bailey-Brayton Field. They then turn around to host No. 16 Stanford in a three-game Pacific-10 Conference series beginning Friday.
