Husky Golfers in Last Place at National Invitational

Tucson, AZ - Despite shooting 2-over 290, the 25th-ranked Husky men's golf team is in last place after the first day of play at the 14-team National Invitational Tournament being played at Tucson National Golf Club. TCU leads the field at 12-under 278 as the Horned Frogs' top three golfers combined to shoot 13-under par on the day. UNLV is second at 277 while New Mexico, Arizona State and Arizona's B-Team are tied for third at 280.
Washington was led by sophomore Alex Prugh who is tied for eighth at 4-under 68. Freshman Zach Bixler shot even-par 72 while Sterling Clar is 54th at 74. James Lepp and Erik Olson are tied for 67th at 76.
TCU's J.J. Killeen leads the field at 6-under 66. Five golfers are tied for second at 67.
The 54-hole National Invitational Tournament runs through Tuesday at Tucson National Golf Club, a par 72, 7,094-yard layout.
