After an 11-day break between competitions, the UCLA softball team returned to the diamond on Tuesday, March 29, with an 8-0 six-inning victory at Cal State Fullerton. Claire Sua Joins Bruin Coaching Staff
Former UCLA All-American Claire Sua joins the UCLA Softball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Sua replaces Courtney Dale, who has returned to Japan to continue her professional softball career. Sua was a two-time All-American during her playing carer from 2001-04. A member of UCLA's back-to-back NCAA Championship teams, Sua earned AllWomen's College World Series recognition as a freshman. She hit 50 career home runs to rank third on UCLA's all-time list behind Olympians Stacey Nuveman (90, NCAA record) and Tairia (Mims) Flowers.
Eight of UCLA's 21 Pac-10 Contests Will Be Televised
UCLA's Apr. 9 game at California will be televised as part of the Pac-10 package on FOX Sports Net, in addition to seven games that are part of a 44-game baseball and softball package announced by ESPN last Thursday.
ESPNU, a new 24-hour college sports network, along with ESPN and ESPN2 will televise at least 44 regular-season college baseball and softball games from April 8 to May 2. The package includes 15 regular season softball games, seven of which will include two-time defending NCAA Champion UCLA. Six of UCLA's first eight home games at the renovated Easton Stadium, including the entire Arizonas series Apr. 15-17 and the entire Bay Area series Apr. 29-May 1, will be televised by the ESPN family of networks.
'We are very excited to be selected as a team that will be shown as part of this package,' said UCLA head coach Sue Enquist. 'It's great for the sport of softball to get this kind of exposure across the country.'
