Mackenzie in Seventh Place at ASU Invitational

Tempe, AZ - The eighth-ranked Washington women's golf team stands in a three-way tie for ninth place after the opening round of play at the 17-team PING/ASU Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course. The Huskies shot 17-over 305 during the first round and trail second-ranked UCLA by 14 strokes. The Bruins posted a 3-over 291 and lead Arizona State and Oregon by four strokes.

Washington was led by junior All-American Paige Mackenzie who carded a 1-over 73 during her first round. She is in a three-way tie for seventh place and trails the leaders by three strokes. UCLA's Susie Mathews and the Sun Devils' Louise Stahle top the leaderboard at 2-under 70.

Washington's Amber Prange is 21st at 3-over 75 while Sung Ea Lee is one stroke behind her in 33rd position. Ashley Bickerton carded a 9-over 81 and freshman Kim Shin struggled with an 11-over 83, equaling her highest score as a collegiate.
