Beavers Move Up In This Week's Baseball Polls
April 4, 2005
CORVALLIS, Ore. - After winning all five of its games last week, Oregon State (24-4 overall, 3-0 Pacific-10) moved up four spots to No. 23 in this week's ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, which was released Monday. The Beavers also climbed two spots to No. 16 in the Baseball America magazine rankings and jumped 12 places to No. 15 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper rankings that were released Monday.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll for the week will be released Tuesday; OSU was ranked No. 17 in the NCBWA poll last week.
Oregon State, which has won seven straight games and 12 of its last 13, goes to Stanford (17-9, 3-0) for a series between the only teams unbeaten in Pac-10 play. The Beavers and Cardinal - which is ranked from 10th to 12th in the three polls released so far this week - will play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., and all three games can be heard on KEJO-AM (1240) and www.osubeavers.com.
The previous best showing for OSU in the Baseball America rankings had been No. 18 each of the past two weeks. The ranking in the EPSN/USA Today coaches poll equals the Beavers' ranking there two weeks ago, and that was believed to be OSU's first appearance in that top 25.
Oregon State returns home for a non-league game against Portland on Tuesday, April 12, at 5 p.m. The Beavers then go to Arizona for a series April 15-17 before coming back to Goss Stadium at Coleman Field for back-to-back weekends against Washington State on April 22-24 and Arizona State on April 29-May 1.
Fans can still purchase a Pac-10 Package, which provides a reserved seat for all nine remaining Pac-10 home games, for $50. The Family Plan provides general admission seating for $20 per adult and $10 per child through high school, with a minimum of one adult ticket and one child ticket needing to be purchased to use the plan.
Those interested in season tickets can call 1-800-GO BEAVS or visit the OSU Athletic Ticket Office in Gill Coliseum.
