USC Men's Golfers Finish In Eighth Place At Augusta State Invitational

The No. 15 USC men's golf team, steadily improving its scores each round, moved up three spots to finish eighth at the Augusta State University Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on Sunday (April 3).
The Trojans shot a 307 and then 305 in the 36-hole final on Sunday to wind up at 64-over par 928, 32 strokes behind winner Augusta State. The host school shot a 32-over 896, the highest winning score in the tourney's 27-year history.
Ben Hayes tied for ninth with a 10-over 226, as his third round 71 tied for third lowest score of that round among the tourney's 90 golfers. Teammate Bradley Shaw was one stroke behind at 227 for an 11th place tie. Tyler Ley shot a 19-over 235 to tie for 39th, while Josha Wooding was 26 over at 242 for a tie for 70th and Nico Bollini finished at a 37-over 253 to place 88th.
Second round play was postponed on Saturday due to dangerous course conditions, as wind gusts reached up to 35 miles per hour, forcing a 36-hole final on Sunday.
The field featured 10 of the nation's top 26-ranked teams, includign nine of the top 19.
