April 6, 2005

LOS ANGELES - The USC women's basketball team finished 22nd in the final 2005 USA Today/ESPN poll. The Women of Troy last ended a season ranked in 1994, when they finished ninth.

First-year head coach Mark Trakh led the Trojans to a 20-11 record, a second place finish in the conference, and returned them to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1997. The 2005 Women of Troy reached the NCAA second round before being eliminated in the final seconds of their game against top-seed and eventual tournament runner-up Michigan State.

USC returns 11 players next season, including 2005 leading scorer Brynn Cameron, leading rebounder Meghan Gnekow, Pac-10 All-Tournament Team member Eshaya Murphy and point guard Camille LeNoir, who scored a career-high 18 points in the NCAA tournament second round match-up against Michigan State.
