Picklers Finish One-Two at Texas Relays Heptathlon

AUSTIN, Texas -- Washington State redshirt sophomores and Texans Diana Pickler and Julie Pickler finished first and second, respectively, in the heptathlon at the 78th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas Thursday.

The Picklers, twin sisters from Sachse, Texas, dominated the 16-woman field in the seven-event, two-day heptathlong competition. Diana Pickler scored a personal best 5,492 points for the win while Julie's 5,414 points was also a PR. Cougar teammate Katie Miller, a junior from Vancouver, Wash., scored 4,894 points for 11th place.

Both Diana and Julie Pickler reached NCAA Provisional Qualifying standards with Diana's total just eight points below the Automatic Qualifying standard.

Diana Pickler's mark is the second-best by an American this year and an improvement of 238 points on her previous PR set in 2003. Julie Pickler bettered her PR set in 2004 by 279 points.
