No. 20 California Falls to No. 3 USC, 4-3

Los Angeles, Calif. - The No. 20 California women's tennis team were defeated in a close match by No. 3 USC, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Mark's Stadium. With the loss, the Golden Bears' record falls to 12-7 overall, 2-4 in Pac-10 play.
Cal made things close in singles, where they notched three victories. Freshman Kusano pulled off a stunning upset on court two, defeating No. 13 Lindsey Nelson in straight sets, 7-5; 6-4.
Junior co-captain Jessica Shu notched another victory for the Bears on court five, where she outlasted Carine Vermeulen in three sets, 6-1; 4-6; 6-1.
Court three saw freshman Cristina Visico, currently ranked No. 106 in singles, win a convincing match over Tarlynn Snyder, 6-1; 6-2.
Cal head coach Jan Brogan will be looking for career victory No. 500 Saturday, April 16, when the Bears host No. 1 Stanford at the Hellman Tennis Center at 12 noon.
