Stanford Men's Tennis Wraps Up 5-1 Win Over USC

Stanford, Calif. - The No. 18 ranked Stanford men's tennis team resumed Friday's dual match with No. 13 USC, and won five of six singles matches to hand the Trojans a 5-1 defeat at the Taube Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinal improves to 12-8 and 4-2 in Pac-10 play with the victory, while USC falls to 11-11 and 3-3 in conference contests.
The Trojans returned to The Farm to wrap up singles play in a dual match that was suspended due to wet weather on Friday afternoon. Senior Sam Warburg came from behind in his victory over No. 10 ranked Jamil Al-Agba at the No. 1 singles position, pulling out the three-set victory 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Junior KC Corkery finished off a straight set win over No. 62 ranked Drew Hoskins at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-2. Senior Phil Sheng rebounded after losing the first set to post a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Kaes Van't Hof at the No. 4 position. Sophomore Eric McKean finished off a 7-5, 6-3 win over Brian Wright at the No. 5 spot, while freshman Phil Kao wrapped up the Cardinal victories by topping Adam Loucks at the No. 6 position 7-6, 7-5.
The Trojans got a point at the No. 3 singles spot, where No. 93 ranked Johan Berg topped sophomore James Wan 6-2, 6-4.
Doubles matches were not played on Friday due to weather constraints, and were not played during Sunday's conclusion of the dual match.
Stanford continues its season-high five-match home stand on Tuesday against No. 8 ranked Pepperdine, before wrapping up Pac-10 play with a match against Cal at the Taube Tennis Center on Saturday.
