Bruins Finish Fourth at Cowboy Classic

The UCLA Blue Team climbed from sixth place in the final round to finish fourth at the Third Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic, hosted by Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ.
The Bruins fired a team score of 274 (-6) for a three-round total of 849 (+9) and finished fourth, nine shots behind UTEP, which won the event with a 54-hole score of 840 (E). Wyoming finished second at 847 (+7), followed by UC Davis at 848 (+8). Utah, which was fourth after 36 holes, fell to fifth at 854.
Individually for the Bruins, freshmen Matt Marshall and Craig Leslie posted career-best scores in the final round. Marshall tied for eighth place at 210 (E) after firing a two-under par 68. Leslie tied for 13th place at 212 (+2) after posting a three-under par 67. Freshman Brandon Christianson also went low, posting a 68 (-2), and tied for 16th at 213 (+3). Senior John Poucher tied for 21st at 214 (+4) after carding a final round 71.
Utah's Steve Newren won medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 207 (-3). He posted a score of 70 (E) in the final round.
