Theo Robertson Signs with Bears
April 14, 2005
BERKELEY - Theo Robertson, a 6-5, 205-pound guard from De La Salle High School in Concord, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Cal, Golden Bear head coach Ben Braun announced Thursday.
Robertson, who finished his career as the No. 2 scorer in De La Salle history with 1,220 points, was named Most Valuable Player of the Bay Valley Athletic League as a senior when he averaged 17.1 ppg and 6.3 rpg. In addition, he was chosen first team All-East Bay by the Contra Costa Times and second team All-Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle.
This past March, Robertson scored a game-high 32 points in claiming MVP honors when he led the West All-Stars to a 106-93 win over the East in the Safeway Charities All-Star game.
As a junior, Robertson earned first team all-league status after pouring in 13.9 ppg and 5.0 rpg. He set a pair school records by making 51.3 percent of his three-point attempts and 61.4 percent of his total field goal tries.
'I'm very pleased that Theo has chosen to be a member of our team,' Braun said. 'He comes from one of the premier basketball programs in California. Theo knows how to win and make his teammates better. He's smart, tough and unselfish. He is also an accomplished shooter and solid defender.'
Robertson is the second recruit to sign a letter of intent with Cal, joining center Jordan Wilkes of Loyola HS in Los Angeles, who signed with the Bears in November.
